Cut Loose

The past couple of weeks I've been beginning a new era in my work life; Ardent and I have gone our separate ways and I'm on the look out for a reasonable amount of contract work whilst spending a good chunk of my time working on a few personal projects that may (or may not) generate some passive income in the future. So far I'm really enjoying the freedom and superior work/life balance this affords me.
I'm getting into Flash ActionScript 3 development in a big way lately, and have just finished a small game in collaboration with Ardent Interactive for a holiday brokering firm.
If that sounds like something you or someone you know might be interested in, feel free to get in contact!
In other news, I've finally gotten around to updating this site to a content managed version, using modxcms since it's nice and clean. It's hard to believe that the last version has been around with no changes since mid '05 - and a lot has changed on the web during that time!
Also, I've just put all of my mailboxes and mail handling into the hopefully-not-evil hands of google, using 'google apps for your domain' - a service that I didn't realise was free until just the other day when I was playing around with the great new IMAP support in gmail. I was getting the odd few people whose mail-servers had inexplicably black-listed my previous email provider(s), and so it was getting hard to know what messages were actually getting through - now with google handling it I'm pretty confident that no-one is going to do that to google's servers, and as an added benefit I get ~4GB of fast, reliable, web accessible space for my current GigaByte or so of mail I have kicking around. That I can use gmail as a webmail client for all of it while out and about is really just icing!
